About Me; I guess I was born with dogs and cats and other pets.  From my earliest years, I cannot ever remember living anywhere without a pet or pets of some sort.  I remember funerals that my brother, sisters and I had for "Blackie and Goldie" our gold fish.  I remember catching Prairie Dogs and Horny Toads for pets.   I remember having a dog beside me all of my life.

When I was 9 years old, we moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  That is where I became a pet connoisseur.  Monkeys, Dik Dik's, Ducks, Chickens, Tortoises, Rabbits, numerous cats and dogs, and eventually a pet lion joined our home and compound in Addis Ababa.

We had a Horse in fact, I used to jump horses.   I took a lot of jumps that the horses did not!    I could not have grown up in a better environment.  Animals are so understanding, loyal and forgiving that I believe any child growing up around them has to learn something from them.

I lived through tragedies.  Meat laced with poison was thrown into our compound and our dogs suffered a horrid death.  Army ants passed through our compound and ate every creature that could not reach the safety of the Eucalyptus trees or that we were unable to reach to bring them to safety inside of out buildings, the barn or the house. The devastation was horrible and I cried for months.  Locusts swarms passed through providing great fun for our monkey population but destroying my mothers garden and lots of plants that the Dik Dik's loved to chew on.  This was all part of growing up.

My family then moved to Teheran, Iran and the exotic animals were not available as in Africa.  We still managed to have a hedge hog, a beautiful parrot and a few other weird pets, but basically we stuck to dogs and cats.  The mutts changed from mutts to purebred poodles and German shepherds.

I got married in Iran to an American Military Man and returned to the United States at 18 years of age.  I have returned overseas many times since then, but mostly for vacations and sight seeing.  My parents and the rest of my family remained in Iran for Eight more years and left just before the Iran Crisis.
In the US, I immediately obtained a monkey, a couple of dogs and a cat.  Over the years I raised poodles and then in 1998 I discovered Pomeranians!  A fluff ball of pure fun.  My kids called them dust mops, I called them "puffballs of love".  My first Pom, Sammy, died from seizures, but I was hooked and got another Pom, then took in a rescue Pom and then another Pom that I purchased and currently, I have 17 of the wonderful little monsters.  I found out more and more about the problems that Pomeranians have - seizures, collapsed tracheas, luxating patella's, alopecia X or BSD, and soon formed PomeranianHealth.  A website designed to educated others on the health and welfare of Pomeranians and other dogs

Take if from me, a dedicated Pomeranian Lover, they really are a great little dog.  I still love all dogs and I still rescue other dogs besides Pomeranians, but somehow, the little Pomeranian has wormed its way into a special place in my heart.  Lucifer Prozac, a rescue Yellow Labrador seems to think the Poms are great also as he does everything he can to protect all of the poms, especially the crippled little ones or the very, very tiny ones.

Hope you enjoy the web site and if you have any questions about the Pomeranian, don't hesitate to contact me at Pommunistparty@aol.com.
